VOLUNTEERS HELP US WITH: Events Flexible hours (evenings and weekends) Position: Volunteers provide visitor services to patrons during special events such as lectures, film screenings and openings by assisting with ticketing, gallery attending, and general event help.
Gallery Attending and Visitor Services Saturdays and Sundays, 1:00 - 4:00pm Position: Volunteers provide visitor service to our patrons while attending the galleries during regular museum hours. Volunteers should be comfortable interacting with visitors and familiar with basic information about the museum.
Education Flexible hours (weekends) Position: Volunteers assist our Museum Educators with educational activities, community outreach, Family Days at the museum, and more. ArtLab, a hands-on art-making session held in the museum lobby, occurs on the first and third Saturday of every month. An interest in education and experience with children is helpful.
Administrative Assistance Flexible hours (Monday-Friday) Position: Volunteers work with members of the administrative staff, including Membership, Development, and Museum Operations, to provide additional administrative support. Basic familiarity with office equipment is recommended.
Installing Exhibitions Week(s) before opening and week(s) after closing exhibitions Position: Volunteers work with the Exhibitions department to install and de-install new installations by artists in the Mattress Factory's residency program. Our need for installation volunteers is sporadic, as it depends on our exhibition schedule.
Garden Party/Community Garden Party Friday night and Saturday afternoon in mid-June Position: Our largest fundraiser of the year, the Garden Party is a celebration of the people and the art that make it all possible at the Mattress Factory. We typically require the help of 40 - 50 volunteers for this extraordinary event. A Community Garden Party traditionally follows the Garden Party on the next Sunday; this free, family-friendly event requires the help of 10 -15 volunteers.
